I was inspired to present this cupcake after reading in the contest information that Sophie was “active in Ithaca’s VIBRANT culinary scene.” The flavors of blueberry and lemon, coupled with the natural, bold color of the buttercream, seemed to fit that description to a tee. Only fresh blueberries were utilized to achieve the brilliant hue and flavor of the frosting and fillings; no artificial flavors or food colorings. I chose a silver cupcake liner to mimic an old fashioned pie tin.
