A wonderful way to spend an evening out in Ithaca: Gallery Night Ithaca, sponsored by the Downtown Ithaca Alliance, is held on the first Friday of every month. It’s a walkable tour of art shows set up in galleries, shops, book stores, restaurants, and hotels.
Tonight’s October 6 edition from 5–8 p.m. at 23 different locations includes some exhibitions capturing the life of Ithaca and Tompkins County.
Argos Inn at 408 East State Street hosts an exhibition (above) of outdoor watercolors by Ruth Yarrow. The works are also available for sale in a silent auction throughout October to raise funds for Southside Community Center.
Tompkins County Public Library at 101 East Green Street presents “Greetings from Freeville, NY,” an exhibition (above) curated by Jessica Walls featuring the work of students from the William George Agency and George Junior Republic School.
Community School of Music and Arts at 330 East State Street hosts Balcón Criollo Ithaca, presented by CULTURA Ithaca. This is an installation (above) of personal effects, photographs, clothing and other items collected from the homes of Tompkins County residents that connect them to their Latin and Latin American cultures.
Home Green Home at 215 East State Street features “Photographs of Taughannock Creek,” (above) by Fernando Llosa
